Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Chimney Cleaning Before & After in Houston, TX
Photos don’t need a sales pitch. A chimney that hasn’t been swept in years, next to the same chimney after our crew finished, tells you more about how we work than any paragraph could. Here are representative jobs from around Houston, with the problem, what we did, and the result. No stock photos. No filters. Just the work.

Heavy Creosote Removal in a River Oaks Fireplace
Before
After
Before
AfterThe homeowner hadn’t used the fireplace in three years and called us before starting it up again. When we ran the camera up, the flue looked like the inside of a barbecue smoker. Stage 2 creosote, thick enough to chip off in pieces. We ran a full mechanical sweep with a rotary head, then brushed every flue tile by hand and vacuumed the smoke shelf and firebox. The after photo shows what a clean flue should look like: bare terra cotta, no shine, no tar. Total time on site was just under two hours.
Smoky Fireplace in a 1980s Katy Home
Before
After
The complaint was classic: every fire sent a little smoke into the room. The camera told us why. A bird had built a nest on the smoke shelf, and years of soot had packed around the damper plate until it couldn’t fully open. We removed the nest, swept the flue top to bottom, and cleaned the smoke shelf by hand. We also adjusted the damper cable. The homeowner called a week later to say the fireplace drew correctly for the first time in years.
Gas Log Fireplace Deep Clean in The Woodlands

Gas logs are the chimney world’s participation trophy, but they still need service. This set was producing a lazy, yellow flame and coating the logs in white soot, which usually means the air shutter is out of adjustment. We removed the log set, cleaned the burner ports with a soft brush, vacuumed the firebox, and reset the air shutter. The yellow flame went back to a clean blue, and the homeowner stopped getting that faint gas smell in the den.
Flue Relining After Rusted Liner Failure in Cypress

This home had a furnace venting into an old masonry flue. The clay liner had spalled, which is a nice word for “fallen apart in chunks.” Heat and carbon monoxide were taking a path through the chimney that nobody planned. We removed what was left of the old liner and installed a DuraFlex stainless steel replacement, properly sized for the furnace. The result is a smooth, insulated flue path that moves exhaust out of the house the way it was designed to.
Chimney Cap Replacement and Animal Entry Repair in Pearland

Squirrels in Houston don’t knock. They just move in. The old chase cover on this prefab chimney had rusted through, and the cap was missing entirely. Our tech found a full nest about four feet down the flue. We removed the nesting material, swept and sanitized the flue, then installed a new stainless steel cap and chase cover. The homeowner had two choices: fix it now or listen to scratching in the walls all fall. They fixed it.
Commercial Kitchen Flue Cleaning in Midtown

A Midtown restaurant brought us in after their regular service had fallen behind. The grease buildup inside the exhaust flue was thick enough to scrape with a putty knife, which is a fire hazard no kitchen should operate with. We ran a full mechanical cleaning of the flue, hood, and fan housing, then documented the work with before-and-after photos for their records. A Houston restaurant that can’t prove a clean flue is a restaurant that’s one inspection away from a closed kitchen.
