Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Houston Team Behind Flint Chimney Co Houston
You don’t get a chimney swept by a franchise brochure. You get it swept by a person who shows up in a truck, walks your roof, and answers questions while holding a soot brush. Our Houston crew is small on purpose. Every technician you’ll meet below carries the same training, follows The Garrison Code on every job, and answers to Hank Delano directly. No subcontractors. No rotating cast. When you call Flint Chimney Co Houston, one of these four people handles your chimney from the first phone call to the final sweep.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician
Marcus has been with Flint Chimney Co Houston for eleven years, longer than any technician on the crew. He started sweeping chimneys in 2013 and moved into lead work after roughly four years of running his own truck. His specialty is open masonry fireplaces, the older ones with angled smoke shelves and dampers that haven’t moved since the Reagan administration. Marcus is the guy we send when a chimney has drafted poorly for years and three other companies have shrugged at it. He is NFI-certified and recertifies on schedule, but what actually matters is that he has swept more than 4,000 Houston-area chimneys without a callback. Off the clock, Marcus restores old cast-iron cookware. He says seasoning a skillet and seasoning a chimney have the same core principle: heat, patience, and not walking away mid-process.
Dana R. – Senior Installer
Dana handles the heavy repair side of the business: flue relining (replacing the inner liner that channels smoke safely out of the house), crown repair, and full fireplace rebuilds. She came to us from a commercial masonry outfit in 2017 and brought an almost annoying level of precision with her. Dana is our lead on DuraFlex and HeatShield installations, and she can tell you within five minutes whether a liner needs replacing or just a sweep. In Houston’s damp climate, she sees a lot of flue tiles swollen from moisture and chimney crowns cracked by heat-and-humidity cycles. Dana keeps a small notebook in her truck where she sketches every chimney she works on. She has filled twenty of them. The crew jokes that her notebook has better documentation than the city permit office.
Lena S. – Service Coordinator
Lena is the person on the other end of the phone when you call Flint Chimney Co Houston. Most companies route you through a call center. Lena works from our Houston office, knows the schedule cold, and has walked enough job sites to explain what a technician will do and why. She’s been with us since 2019 and rides along on inspections twice a year so she can describe the work accurately. If you call at 2 a.m. on a Sunday, Lena or another live person answers, no voicemail tree. She keeps a running list of which neighborhoods need earlier spring appointments because of creosote buildup patterns we see year after year. Lena also bakes a pecan pie for the crew when winter sweep season wraps. It is not on the official schedule, but it is a tradition.
Omar V. – Apprentice Technician
Omar joined Flint Chimney Co Houston in 2024 and is working through his first two years of supervised field training. Before this, he spent five years as a residential roofer in the Heights and Montrose, so roof safety and ladder work were already second nature. Omar shadows Marcus on sweeps and Dana on liner installs, alternating weeks so he sees the full range of what we do. He handles a lot of the rooftop inspection photos and has a good eye for catching hairline cracks in mortar that are easy to miss when the light is flat. On the weekends, Omar plays in a Tejano band, which, as he puts it, is why he doesn’t flinch at howling wind noise coming down an uncapped flue. He is a capable, careful worker, and every job he touches is checked by a senior tech before we call it done.
One Standard, Every Job
Four people, four different roles, same bottom line. Every Flint Chimney Co Houston job follows The Garrison Standard: a written price before any work starts, a sweep that leaves the flue visibly clean under camera inspection, and a repair that is photographed, explained, and guaranteed. If Marcus tells you the liner needs replacing, Dana is going to show you the camera footage and point at the exact crack. Nobody here recommends work you can’t verify. That’s the whole point. Hank Delano opened this Houston location under the Garrison Partners umbrella, founded in 2002, and the rule from day one was simple: do the job like the customer lives next door. It isn’t a marketing line. It’s how the four people above get paid.
